You have to move your body to keep it healthy. It’s that simple.
Of course when you are innately lazy like I am, it is easier said than done. I struggle every minute of every day. However, the more I incorporate movement, whether it be deliberate exercising, playing with my kids, dancing, or walking from here to there, I find I like it more and more and feel better and sleep better when I do. And you know what? My kids sleep better, too! Winning all around!
So get up and find ways to get moving! You might just like it.
Increases your metabolism
But don’t just take my word for it, there are lots of studies proving the benefits of being active. Such as losing weight or weight control. Moving increases your metabolism, even just standing burns more calories than sitting. If you are like me, there comes a point where you have to accept the fact that sitting on the couch, wishing for it, isn’t going to make it happen, you’re going to have to move.
Prevents disease and health conditions and boosts immune system
Moving also prevents disease and other serious or not no serious, yet annoying health conditions, as well as boosting your immune system. I think that’s nice because, personally, I don’t want to live with that. I think I’d rather move a bit and suffer the benefits.
Makes you happy and improves sex life
There are also lots of studies that say exercise makes you happy… or “improves mood”, whatever, it makes me happy. It combats depression, relieves tension and anxiety, and lowers your stress levels… sooo… that’s awesome. Not only does exercising make you happy, it improves your sex life! And who doesn’t want that? I mean, you’re exercising and starting to look pretty good, so your confidence goes up, and you have more energy, your bonding as a family, who wouldn’t be more excited about…….
More energy and better sleep
Yes, sleeping better. You’re working hard and you are rewarded with better sleep. It makes sense. The one that doesn’t really make sense to me is that you have more energy, but hey, I’ll take it. And it does… for me it actually took a little while, but I think I had some underlying issues there.
Live longer with no broken hips while enjoying family
You tend to live longer when you are active and it strengthens your bones so, you know, you’re less likely to break a hip in your long life, so that’s good. And while you’re living your long active life, it can really bring your family together. Enjoy outdoor activities together. Play ball, go hiking, canoeing, golfing, take family walks, work out together… disconnect and reconnect with your family. You might be surprised by how much fun you can have.
Why continue sitting on the couch, watching TV, being mindlessly entertained by other people living their life, when you could be out there creating your own adventures and reaping all the benefits
The benefits of moving will improve your life physically, emotionally, and socially. I promise.
Seriously. What have you got to lose? … Besides weight… and stress… and sickness………..
